Questions for the Case-Study

Following are some of my questions:

1. How can we make ICT more affordable for developing communities?
2. How can we make ICT development efforts more sustainable?
3. How can ICT help improve the productivity of local economies?

The questions that Lenander put into ICT4D Synopsium blogs are:

1. How can governments and regulatory authorities play a more active role in assuring greater affordability and access to ICT in developing contexts?
2. What role should ICT play in education; teaching and learning? Should it replace traditional methods altogether?
3. How can ICT help preserve, utilize, and disseminate local wisdom?
4. How can ICT help teach introductory computer programming?
5. How can ICT help improve teaching?

As a next step, we are going to discuss and decide on appropriate solutions to precise questions we are going to do for the case study.

Discussion:- Technologies; Identifying appropriate solutions for development needs

Quuite novice discussion for this week from all out members of the group "Ameya" about the "Technologies: Identifying appropriate solutions for development needs". Here are the summary:

1. there were issues raised on the needs of the people and preliminary study needed
2. more time and money should be invested in survey and design phase to improve solution rather than on implementation.
3. Radio was found out to be relevant solution for most of the countries.
4. people should be aware of the latest innovation
5. transparency in actions
6. benefits usually goes to the rich at the expenses of poor
7. communication between local (affected) people and real donor projects are to be made possible.
8. need to explore the cultural and social aspects
9. necessary to make clear to people about pros and cons of development
10. technologies should be focused on the most part of population
    
11. new technologies should not exceed financial possibilities of people
12. use of technology for reducing the budget
13. use of technology to show the result of the project to people so that they can know what exactly is going to happen before the project

The course for ICT4D seems to be more prospective and could be more beneficial for me. Although there might be some other platform we all will be working on, i will try to keep some of the points in here during the course. There might be some more additional information that will be more advantageous for me to know.
